English: A record of a letter in Portuguese aljamía—early Portuguese written in Arabic script—sent from Sheikh Yahya ben Bulisbé of the Shawiya to the King of Portugal found in the archives of Torre do Tombo.

David Lopes (1867-1942), in his book Textos em aljamía portuguesa; documentos para a historia do dominio português em Safim, extrahidos dos originaes da Torre do Tombo p. 49, gives the transcription into Latin as:

Tralado da carta do xeque da Enxovia láhia bem Bulisbé a el rei nosso senhor.

Nome de Deus misericordioso, e louvores ao seu Deus.

Carta a vós mui alto rei de Portugal, do xeque láhia bem Bulisbé servidor de vossa alteza, e que faço a saber que a causa que ahi houve de me não vir com o capitão, pera o que cumpre a vosso serviço, foi a nova que temos delrei de Fez que vem; assim senhor vos faço a saber que eu devo algumas pagas, polo que peço a vossa alteza que me faça mercê cento onças de prata, e duas marlotas de grã, e outras duas marlotas de veludo, assim isto senhor vos aprouver mandar-mas por luçafe Adibe, e eu fico senhor de vossa alteza em tudo em que mandar da Enxovía.
